The Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (PASSHE) has obtained grant funding through the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency (PEMA) to update existing Hazard Mitigation Plans (HMP's) for Kutztown University. Pre-disaster planning reduces long-term risk to people and property from natural and human-made hazards.

Recent Announcements

  • Kutztown University HMP Approved and Adopted The Kutztown University Hazard Mitigation Plan has achieved Approval Pending Adoption (APA) status from FEMA and has since been adopted by resolution by Kutztown University. A final copy of the plan can be accessed on the Resource Center webpage.

  • Kutztown HMP prepared for PEMA and FEMA review The Kutztown University Hazard Mitigation Plan has been submitted to PEMA for review following the public review meeting on April 23rd. At the public review meeting, several participants shared suggestions for improving the plan. Those suggestions were reviewed and included in the final document submitted for review. PEMA will now review the HMP, recommend any changes and then send to FEMA for final review. The Kutztown University HMP Steering Committee wishes to thank all those that took the time to participate in the HMP update process and provide feedback on the plan.

  • Kutztown University HMP available for Public Comment Notice is hereby given that Kutztown University intends to review the updated draft of the University Hazard Mitigation Plan and receive public comment at a meeting to be held on Thursday, April 23, 2015, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.  The meeting will be held in the Boehm Science Center Room 145 at the Kutztown University campus, located near Schaeffer Lane in Kutztown, PA 19530‎.  For persons with disabilities, please contact Stephen Helms, Director of University Environmental Health and Safety, at 610-683-4050, to discuss accommodations.  A draft of the plan and information about the project can be found at the project website, http://www.kutztownuniversityhmp.com/.
